Grand Analog is a raw collective of seasoned record collectors, musicians and self described beat junkies. You can easily find any of these characters DJing at various clubs around Toronto or Winnipeg. Band leader and creator, Odario Williams, describes the Grand Analog sound as a beautiful mess of rap’n’roll, dub and soul. The band’s critically acclaimed albums, “Calligraffiti” and “Metropolis Is Burning”, boasted an infectious array of soundscapes that was unbalanced and dirty; never clean.
Each personality in this collective brings something unique to the table. Odario and DJ Ofield blame their father, a reggae DJ from the 80s, for cursing them with the love of music, bass and trouble. DJ Catalist was also born into a musical family, inheriting a vintage collection of analog keyboards and an uncanny resemblance to Frank Zappa. Warren Bray is the secret sauce on bass and TJ Garcia trips the light fantastic behind his drum kit. Due in 2013, their new album, “Modern Thunder”, features guest artists ranging from Saukrates and Shad and Maylee Todd.
